Langness Lighthouse Cottages

Langness Lighthouse Cottages, situated on Langness peninsula at the most southeasterly point of the Island, is a 10-minute drive from Ronaldsway Airport, with Castletown, the Ancient Capital of Mann, just across the bay.

The Lighthouse, built in 1880, was designed by Thomas Stevenson, son of Robert Louis Stevenson, a pioneering Scottish lighthouse designer and meteorologist, famed for designing over thirty lighthouses in and around Scotland. Its status was changed to a Minor Light in 1994, with the keepers withdrawing in 1996, however it still remains an important light and is maintained by the Northern Lighthouse Board.

Located on a narrow peninsular stretching into the Irish Sea, the lighthouse is surrounded by beautiful coves, arches, pillars, pinnacles and rock pools. Renowned for its wildlife, Langness peninsula is an SSSI and the perfect place to watch nesting and migrating birds, seals, dolphins, porpoises, Minke whales and basking sharks, often visible from your window.  Rich with history, the peninsula is full of secrets, with every gully telling a story, on an Island draped in Celtic and Viking history.

At Langness, you will feel a million miles from anywhere, remote and free from all the stresses of modern living but should you need to return to civilization, you are very close to Castletown with its shops, restaurants, historic attractions, steam trains & bus routes. The town was built around the medieval Castle Rushen and is within easy reach of a number of other heritage attractions; the Nautical Museum, Old Grammar School and the Old House of Keys (the Islands former parliament).

If you are a golfer then it is worth knowing that situated on the eastern side of the peninsular is the Catsletown Golf Course, which provides some of the best links golf anywhere in the British Isles.

The biggest of the three, Herring Cottage has 3 bedrooms and both East & West Cottages have 2 bedrooms. All cottages are beautifully refurbished and fully equipped to a very high standard. We try our absolute best to cater to your every need and do everything in our power to make your stay at Langness a unique holiday in which you can relax and enjoy yourself.
